Anyone else having strange issues with the G1's dvd drive? I was having problems where the system was freezing when trying to read a movie in the drive.

I could eventually get it going by ejecting the disc and putting it back in, but it seemed to happen almost every other time after I totally stopped the disc and restarted it.

Is there an easy fix for this?

Perhaps updating the OD firmware may help, or it could also be corrupted codecs.

ok I'll have to look into that. I know there were some similar problems reported earlier with some of the other Asus DVD drives. Just wondering if I'm the only one who's seen this on the G1.

is your dvd clean without scratches.? does it work when you read files from other DVDs that you burn as DATA or Music files.?

If it's not working so it might be the firmware or hardware problem. Defective dvd drive is usual. I had one before. The burner wont' burn DVds at all.
