I have the default driver (8.6.0.2) installed and works perfectly for my G1 Asus gaming laptop, Geforce Go 7700.

Is there an update, better/faster drivers?

I have tried installing the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go.com (9792), but does not work at all. If I try to go into any game, it does not work.

Anyone with Asus G1 laptop out there that has installed something else and worked?

    Cheers

I want to know the answer to that as well. Also for Asus A8Js as well.

Has anyone tried the driver from the NVIDIA homepage ( I mean the forceware which is used for all other geforce models) ?

86.02 is probably the best ones, so i see no reason for updating. that said, i updated my drivers to 97.44 from laptopvideo2go.com, since the performance hit is small and you get some new functions and the new controlpanel. just make sure you get the modded inf. And test the performance with the new drivers to make sure the performance hit isn't to big.

This is not good news, but I have tried to update my driver and it did not go so well.

Has anyone update his/her driver and it works better?

    laptopvideo2go.com

use the modded inf file. Those are the only drivers for the 7700

Yesterday I installed the forceware 97.92 with the modded inf from laptopvideo2go.com on my G1 and it works normal. I didn't do any performance test before and after so I don't know if it's working better than the 86.02, but at least it works.

Did you install 97.92 for use with Geforce GPUs or for Geforce Go GPUs? The driver I am currently using in my A8Js is 7.15.10.9754 but I have been looking for something that is more up to date. Plus, the control panel options are lacking with this version. I want to have all of the tweaking options that the normal control panel comes with.

I just realized that you are using XP and that I'm using Vista so the drivers won't be the same.

Yeah you're right, I'm using XP, and I used the Geforce GPU driver, actually on the NVIDIA homepage its only listed when you chose the 8800er series. I also used an unlocker to activate the classical control panel, so I can chose between the classic and the new control panel. This unlocker just adds something to the registry, so its a *.reg file.

the only thing that prevents you from using any nvidia driver is the inf file.

7700 go and 7600 gt are the same thing.

This is good news. I will try it out...I will also do a performance check, before and after using 3Dmark05...
