    Changing a hard disk isn't too difficult. In some notebooks it is positioned in an awkward place, and alot of disasembly needs to take place, before you can access it physically. But in most notebooks, it is under s small panel on the underside, and changing it isn't hard. Simply unplug the old one, and plug the new one in. Then you will need to reinstall Windows and the drivers.

    Like I said, I've done it before. On the G1 it just seems very cramped.

    Hmmm... I don't have the G1 yet but looking at the shots I have seen. It is kind of in a weird spot. (instead of on the side where you can slide it in, it's more of a "drop in" socket.

    The good thing about sata drives is that you should be able to unplug it much easier than the older pata pin style connections.

    My recommendation is to lift slightly at the opposite end of the connector, then pull away from the connector once the hd clears the notebook housing. I'll follow up once I get mine.
