I’ve nothing but problems with my G1 since day 2!
    1. Incompatibilities with Logitech quickcam fusion
    2. Not shutting down properly
    3. Memory errors
    4. Freezing during booting
    5. Etc
I have reinstalled XP SP2 several times. At this point I feel it is due to Asus crummy drivers. I would advise anyone against getting this laptop!!!
Anyone know how to update the BIOS on this thing?
    Thanks.
     :(

Appears it it was due to Logitech drivers...will wait a week before rulling out the G1

There are two things I can think of: you may have installed a device or the drivers for something that's totally incompatible, or you may have a lemon.

Send it back to Asus, you probably have a lemon.

But from what I have heard about the G1 it seems to be a great laptop.

dude, u got a lemon. advise anyone against getting this thing when u see (if u do see, that is...) happy owners like myself totally and absolutely out numbering ones with problems...?

it's like saying, dude, u're paranoid, unreasonable and draw absolutely ridiculous conclusions, and therefore all people from your family, no, your country, must be the same...

anyways, why don't u tell us more about what u did once u've recieved the g1. COULD be something to do with things that you've touched/uninstalled/installed, or as cb6000 could've just been a simple lemon. just stating the problems doesn't help sometimes, u gotta elabroate

It could be Logitech's drivers and Vista colliding, which is the 1st problem.

The other two looks like bad RAM, or the RAM isn't put in place correctly.

Yep sounds like a lemon. As I have wiped vista and put XP Pro on myself. I used all the same drivers with absolutely no issues.

contact the dealer for a diagnosis guide.
Freezing during booting is probably the ram but it could be the hd, some virus.

You've paid a lot of money, so I can understand your feelings. I'd just send it back and have ASUS fix or replace it at this point. As for updating the Bios, I'm pretty sure there are instructions included with the download from ASUS' website.

Man, Logitech Drivers especially the new ones for the fusion (and more complicated models) are TRASH, Just head off to logitech forums and check them out.........Hundreds of problems with vista especially, but also with xp. i run my fusion without the logitech driver, vista picks it up but with basic functionality only -which is fine, since i don't need all the other crap any way.

some of the problems reported relating to the logitech drivers include: loss of sound, system hanging and BSOD, not shutting down and others....if i were you i would start with uninstalling everything logitech related and try for a while.....then decide from there ..do this before you send it to Asus of course, it could be a simple fix.....

    hope this helps.....

You might be right...I uninstalled Logitech drivers, and it appears to be back to normal. I then instead of installing the drivers, I just plugged in the webcam, WinXP installed drivers, then was prompted if I wanted to upgrade the drivers from Logitech, did that and all looks to be running normal. I think the issue was installing the latest drivers up front.
    Thank you!!

An apology to ASUS would be nice don't you thknk?!?

Just kidding... It's good to hear your G1 is back to normal again!!!

P.S.- Oh and now that you found that you caused the problem, why don't you go ahead and change the title to something less flammable?

    Cheers!

be careful though, when it asked you to update the drivers from logitech, it is still downloading the logitech stuff - the additional effects.....i only use the windows built in driver, it works fine (but i'm using vista, i'm not sure about xp)...
if your machine gives you more trouble, remove the camera and uninstall logitech software for a day and two and see if it gets better, if you find that it does, then you have driver issues and just sign-up for logitech forums, and ask about the problem over there, they will help, it is a very good forum with very knowledgeable people .......at least that was my experience ...

    hope this helps....
