Hello All, My Beloved G1's nvidia go 7700 Crapped Out, And Im Wondering If Replacing the motherboard with a g1s. would this be viable? (i would like the performance gain by having the better nvidia chip). And What Do I Salvage from my existing dead mobo?

You can, but the G1s uses arguably faulty 8600m GT's (solder problem). Plus, it's probably hard to find a new G1s board since it's a relatively old laptop, so you'd be stuck using a refurb or a pulled board. Finally, there's nothing to salvage from an old mobo, the mobo is one piece so there's nothing you can take off of it.

Hi Lithus, mmmm The Two mobo's are different chipset, does that mean i cant salvage the cpu? Also, Wouldnt it still be better off with a 8600 rather than 7700? or is the 7700 soldering more stable than the 8600?
