Ive had these two problems with multiple installs of ATK, sound, modem, and touchpad drivers. The porblem with the touchpad is that about 1/10 the time i start my comp up the button does not work until a restart. The sound is basically the same problem. The device itself isn't even seen in device manager so its like the audio device has just disappeared. A reboot fixes the problem.

    Thanks

This is what worked best for me.

    1. Install the ATK ACPI driver and VGA driver from the CD first. Only install these two.

    2. Restart.

    3. Install all sound drivers that you need. For the G1S, get the Realtek drivers fromt he realtek website.

    4. Restart.

    5. Install the eSATA, Direct Console, Chkmail, and Bios Flash Utility.

    6. Restart.

    7. Install the AFGENERIC or whatever it's called, ATK Hotkey, Power 4 Gear, and ATK Media.

    8. Restart.

    9. Install the wireless lan drivers.

    10. Restart.

    11. Restart once more.

It took me a long while to find the most optimum order for installing the drivers because some of them are horribly coded and are very sensitive to the order in which they are installed. I have a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage SRM (USB Sound Card) thatI use to hook up multiple speakers. In order to get my sound function keys to work with the usb sound card, I had to install the Turtle Beach drivers before I stalled the Realtek drivers, but after the ACPI and VGA drivers.

I have not had problems and everything works. I also use the ATKOSD2 for the cool graphics for the function keys. Install ATKOSD2 when you install the ATK Hotkeys.

    Side note:

In task manager, there is an ATKOSD.exe process and an ATKOSD2 process. I do not believe both are needed. The ATKOSD2 is for the cool graphics for function keys and the ATKOSD is the one installed with the ATK Hotkeys. I did a little experiment where I went to the ATK Hotkey folder, found the ATKOSD.exe and moved it to desktop. The ATKOSD.exe did not start up, but ATKOSD2 did and my function keys all still worked. Also, I had removed an unnecessary process.

Some people do say that the ATKOSD.exe process is connected with the ACPI driver.

Yes metril, this post was really helpful. This post and also your previous post about instructions on how to install the wireless drivers :)

Is it fine if I install the bluetooth drivers at the end of that entire process?

Yes that is fine. Bluetooth drivers only depend on ACPI and Hotkey for the on/off capability (the function button).
