Well it's been 2 1/2 weeks since I got my G1 in the mail. Overall I must say I enjoy the laptop. But there is one major drawback that I am experiencing right now, and that is the lack luster performance in World of Warcraft. It confuses me. I know I have more than the reccomended specs. for the game to run smoothly but I just can't get my FPS higher than an average of 40. I have updated my drivers, did what the Blizzard tech people told me to do interface wise, and reinstalled the game to fix any issues and still no change (In fact, I am getting worse FPS now than ever). World of Warcraft is my main game I play, looks like I'll have to shelf it sooner rather than later![]()
On a lighter note, Age of Empires 3 and Simcity 4 run quite well, I just need to get the handle over the AOE key bindings and learn how to perform field maneuvers. But that just takes time with the game I guess![]()

Wierd as I have no problems with wow at all. I does suck on battery power though as it lowers the GPU, but on mains I get a really smooth game with the game gfx settings probably at around 80% of max. I couldn't tell you what FPS I get - is there an easy way to do this? If so I'll post my result for you. 40 doesn't sound that bad to me though (?)

Is this with Vista or XP? wondering if it's a Vista/NVidia drivers issue.

There are addons for WoW that will tell you FPS. Titan Panel is one that I can remember off of the top of my head.

ctrl+r to show ur FPS, i cant remmeber if i use add-ons or not, im pretty sure u dont need addons

There's definitely a performance hit with Vista drivers and WoW does show signs of suffering from it.
I dropped Vista for XP and haven't had any issues with it since. Settings pretty much maxed, do battlegrounds and raids without a problem. -
This issue is with Vista Home Premium, I knew I forgot something as I rushed out the door for school this morning. I asked a bunch of people on this forum (in the operating systems section) and on another forum about switching to XP, because it performs better as of now, and the overwhelming response was to stay with Vista. I still am looking into XP but I also have to keep in mind how much I'll be gaming in college when I have to juggle football, school and whatever else.

turn down aa/af or whatever it's called in the options. If you're running at 16x the game will obviously run slowly.

ur another victim to the vista/nvidia non-support ignore complainers issue. Try going to the WoW.net forums or try the EA.com forums. Some people have posted work arounds to get better performance when using vista
lol... i see on WoW.net they just posted a couple more beta drivers for nVidia users. I think this must be like close to a dozen now.. eeks! -
WoW.net, is that an Internet provider for Trinidad and Tobego? Or am I on the wrong site lol. I'll check the EA.com forums here in a little bit.

I'm gonna bump this because I have one final issue with Vista vs XP.
Would switching to XP make my WoW experience and my overall computer performance increase? Vista uses 634 MB of RAM just sitting at my desktop not doing anything, then adding a game or a heavy duty application slows everything down. What is XP's idle RAM usage? I have asked this question before on a different forum, but should I sitck with Vista or go to XP for the performance? The only thing I really like about Vista is that the Aero interface is very nice and pretty, but aside from that I could do without it. However most people have told me to just stick with Vista because it will get better over time. That may be true, but I want to get as much performance as I can with this laptop, and I think right now XP would give me that boost. What do you guys think? -
