This is my first laptop. I have this for a week now. I noticed the HD indicator constantly blinks. The system is idle, no application is running; yet the drive is accessed every few seconds. Does your G1 do that?

I dont own a G1, but my W3J does the exact same thing. Unless you hear a clicking or grinding noise I would say you are fine. It could be disk catching or some process in the back ground. Dont worry about it.

That's correct if it is clicking then you know something is causing the hard drive to be active by user input. Otherwise it is just normal processes running in the background which is being accessed by the hard drive.

My laptop HDD indicator blinks 1 every 5 second while idol and everything is fine.

I started off with Vista, went to XP and then went back to Vista. I noticed both XP and Vista did the same thing. I can hear the access on the drive. The normal drive accesses sound. I just don't think it should do that. It might be a normal thing. If this didn't bother any of you guys, I guess I should learn to live with it. :D

Mine did the same thing until I deleted nortons off my hard drive, it's much better now.
