I put up my G1 in sale/trade section if anyone is interested.
The reason for selling, I wanted to get desktop replacement laptop, G1 is a great machine, but I want a 17" now.
that is the only reason for selling.
If this should not be in this forum, Mods please delete with my apologies.

Do us a favor and make sure you note that you're getting rid of this because you want to get a 17" system, is that alright? You wouldn't believe that kind of chatter we get about posts like yours. People don't even read them, but towards the end of the week I heard one of our sales guys saying someone called in and heard "everyone was selling their G1's"....... ook... well you are, and that's about it. I just think for the sake of a good product, make sure you post your reason... it'll also save you some headaches as well, because everyone is going to want to know why anyway.

... lame duck up there feels the negativity
.... It's all in the fact that right now you're one of less than 25 that has a G1 and you want to get rid of it.... while there are backorder lists 40+ strong probably everywhere and more than that just waiting for real stock... it's something that starts to freak people out.
Honestly, you should have known you wanted or needed a 17" before you bought the G1, but if that's your excuse, that's your excuse... just be honest about it and others will thank you (especially me for cutting our phone calls down)....
Out of curiosity..... will you then be looking at a G2, or perhaps a W2? If not, then I'd love to know why... -
i dont get the whole negativity thing. I got it because I wanted it. It was right on my budget at the time. It was going to replace my MSI 1029, I am a field programmer, so I use it to travel and sorta abuse it. I found it hard to do that to my new G1. So then I decided to use at my desktop replacement, but found that 15.4 bit small. Hainvg just gotten my x-mas bonus, my laptop budget went about ~500 bucks north of 2k. So I put it here, cause I figured at least some who knew what a G1 would pick it up. I know its in demand, and thats why I posted it here instead of ebay. I am only selling for what I paid for it.
and for a 17" yeah I am looking at G2 or clevo5760u
It is not my intention of freak anyone out. or say give neagative vibes

How do you sell it? I mean, are you going to Ebay the unit? How does this work?

Jay, not that you were spreading that vibe... I'm just saying that in general, when you're vague about the reasons why, people make their own up in their head and start to ask questions... in stead of asking you, they call people like us and it gets old quick. Believe it or not, one comment like that could actually hurt sales of a product like that... When you consider that you're the owner of a product that is 1 of 24 in North America right now.... basically actually 1 of 24 in this hemisphere.... all the potential buyers are looking for comments and since all those that are happy with their units are off using them and not posting about them... it leaves basically you as the only "G1 owner" that is posting about it.. and you're posting about getting rid of it.... See how that might look to some people?
Anyway.. it's not really you.. it's other people.. and for those other people you just need to detail your situation better for them... I think you did a good job and I wish you luck selling it. -
ProPortable- you make me laugh. He's selling it because he doesn't want it anymore, that's why people sell things. Whether it was because he just didn't like it or wanted something better is his business. It's not his problem if people make their own assumptions about a system because they read one post about a guy selling it. If he wants to put a reason why he's selling it, he can, if he doesn't, who cares?

Yup, I have to agree with rye. He does what he wants to do - and he isn't obligated to specify a specific reason why he's selling a laptop (let alone justify his actions). The buyer most likely would inquire why.

I'm not telling him to justify it...... I'm asking him if he would, because he told us why in one comment, but the "why" will not only help him sell it, but it'll make my life easier as it'll keep the forum from getting hammered with questions as to why they see this new model everyone is dying for is up for sale.
The funny thing is, he didn't have a problem with it... not sure why anyone else does. -
I still think Justin is right. He is not literally forcing him to explain his intention for selling. It was more of a friendly suggestion that will benefit both sides, both the buyers and the sellers.
This is not an issue about legal rights or something else. This is a forum, strictly for suggestions. If the G1-seller has rights to sell and not state his true intention of selling, then Justin still has the same, equal rights to suggest to state his intention. In the end, no one is wrong; no one is right. The only thing that will matter is what is best for us all.
Justin just explains the situation and states the "potential" conseuqences; then, he suggests a way to prevent the unforseen consequences, which will benefit everyone... -

Honestly, I don't care either way....... There have been cases in years past where one stupid post which was taken out of context hurt sales of a very good model... Sales were still great, but people would come into the forum and see that post and say "well, i wanted one, now i'm going to go get this".. and the shame of it all is that one simple post can change the next couple years of some random person's life. I felt bad for all the people who wanted a W1 and then didn't buy one because of the post that was made by someone who didn't even own one.... but most people are lazy and didn't have the time to read through everything, and due to this, they made the decision not to get a laptop that would have easily been the best purchase they had ever made.
I'm just looking out for those people because they're the ones that are least likely to "dig deeper" or ask questions....... At the same time, if the person was going to sell something and say "well I didn't like it because it's a piece of crap" .... do you really think anyone is going to buy it from them? Just in general, full disclosure is better for everyone in the end..... This is a community and everyone welcomed like family...... but understand the senior members of the community are trying to look out for what's in the best interest of the community to keep it not only growing, but also to keep the level of information and knowledge that's shared at the highest possible level as well... It's sort of utopian I guess... but we can try.
