Everytime I press the email button from the quick launcher buttons, it opens outlook express... is there a way to open Microsoft outlook instead? I'm using windows vista ultimate and my MS outlook is my default email client. Thanks in advance

Find MS Outlook, then right click and send to desktop as shortcut.
Then physically drag that icon into the quick launch toolbar and now you will have a button to instantly load MS Outlook.
Hope this is what your looking for. -
i think hes talking about the five buttons next to the power button on the top right corner for the G1

Hmm mine uses Outlook after I installed it. If you are not using Outlook Express you can try uninstalling it and seeing if it switches to Outlook.
One other thing and I haven't tested it so cannot verify this will work is to look for the client setting in the registry and change it to Outlook. You can find the key at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail. Change the (Default) key to read Microsoft Outlook. -

Ok one other thing that just crossed my mind. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Programs Tab. Make sure under E-mail Microsoft Office Outlook is selected. This should have been my first suggestion.

Yes I set my default email program to Thunderbird, and that is what opens when I push the email button. Same for the Internet browser button, I use firefox so that is what starts up now instead of IE7.
Now if only there was a way to change the media buttons to open what I want them to. When I push the power button it opens wmp, and when I push the play button it opens the asus branded dvd player. -
Registered on here just to say..
Thanks Sparky33your suggestion to edit the registry @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail worked
for me after I copied the registry key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook
to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook
I am on Vista 64bit with Office 2007. kokowawa if you have the ASUS G1, then you probably have 64bit too and this
will most likely solve your problem aswell.
I have attached the .reg file I used, that will make all of the changes for you.
PS: All of my program access and defaults were set to Office, and in IE too, this was the only way to do it.

Btw, the usual way is to go to Control Panel -> Set program access and defaults -> on the "Choose default E-mail program" select they mail program you want to use. I have my Yahoo! mail registered there as a default email software, so pressing the Mail button (or clicking any email link) opens up my Yahoo! mail
Edit: Oh....I just saw your Outlook is the default e-mail software. Anyway, try the options there to see if it works. -
Hi Predator_MF,
Yep that was the first thing I did.. this is specifically an 64bit issue.
There is a special registry key that 32bit apps write to, but transparent to the application! The problem is that in this case Windows is of course looking in the 64bit location.
What amazes me is that Microsoft itself is making this mistake with Office 2007! (and thats Office 2007 SP1 and fully patched up to date)
Anyway maybe the ASUS hotkey software is playing some part in the problem too, ie. because for evey other app I saw, the SPAD settings are respected and work as you would expect.
Cheers.
