The models sold here have lower resolutions than the ones talked about in this forum. G1 sells here with a resolution of 1280x800,while G2 sells here only with a resolution of 1440x900.

I read very good things about the displays of the G1 and G2 in this forum. But I realize now that they are different from the ones I am looking at in the shops. Does anybody know more about this or has anybody had the chance to do a side by side comparison? Any other differences except for the lower resolution?

My G1 is 1680x1050. That was the default resolution.

Snowstorm this website is predominantly based on North America, and these products and specs are for North America. For people located in other countries, this website still provides valuable information regarding these particular laptops, however when it comes to specs, you will have to double and triple check everything. This is because Asus uses different specs for the same laptop around the world.

Here's a review of the G2, which does have a few comparison pictures of the G1 and G2 side by side.

Also make sure it's a current model being sold. I believe the G1 intially was introduced at 1280x800.

Thanks, luckily I realize before I made the actual purchase. I'm still fine with the lower resolution, but not at the price it's selling here, which is converted to USD 2600 for the G2.

    Snowstorm,
At least in the U.S., the G2 sells for for about $2000. What country are you from? Can you purchase a US model? If so you can get the higher resolution.

Thanks zurik. I'm trying to buy this baby in Singapore, but I already suspected that it's way overpriced. I'm fine with the lower resolution, but not at this price.

Going to Indonesia to buy the laptop would be too much trouble. But what about Australia? Any good shops there, say around Perth? :)
