    Hi all,

My G1P has pretty much been a DTR for me since upgrading from my aging desktop. I ran it very rarely off the built in screen in favor of my 22" external lcd.

The lid was never closed or close to it, always plenty of room as I did not want heat buildup to possibly damage the screen.Unit has taken no falls, spills or abuse of any kind.

Well I am at my new house and I now notice grey specs and blotches on both the left and right hand sides of the screen. Most noticeable in white, light blue etc. As I have used the internal so little I do not know when this started if just now or been like it awhile.

It is still under warranty but to ship it too them i must ship it to my parents at my old address. Have them ship it to asus, asus to them and then parents to me. As you can see if It needs repair it's quite the chore, I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem like this and if an asus repair fixed it.

    Thanks for your time!
    Adam

Are these only visible when the backlight is on? And why can't you just ship it to Asus direct from your new location - are you now out of the country or something?

If you can see them when the screen is dark (would probably be most visible from an oblique angle), then you have damage physically to the screen glass itself, most likely from prolonges contact against the keys due to slight shimmy on handling the notebook and I'm not sure whether that (physical damage) would be covered under Asus' warranty.

If this is only present in the LCD pixels, then it's possible that Asus might repair it, but you'd probably have to speak with them first to discuss.

Either way, it sounds like you might have to replace the LCD to effect a fix...
