I just ordered a G1s, and i need some advice on things i should do to make it run without any problems, and have all the updates and such, i think you get the idea.

Bios, bloatware (found a thread for this), graphics card updates, everything. Any suggestions on what to install and such would be appreciated.

If you have any tips on what to do of any sort, feel free to comment.

Well, for Windows, I recommend Auto Patcher. Its an excellent program. Search it on google. There's one for every version of windows, including Vista. And there's some nice registry optimizations and programs (Adobe Acrobat Reader, Flash, Java, etc) built in.

I haven't recieved my Asus G1 S yet but there is one thing I know about laptops in general. Never over charge your laptop. I have heard that your battery will not last as long if you always have it plugged into the AC.

I don't believe that that overcharging is an issue anymore with the newer laptops - heat perhaps - but not overcharging. This thread discusses the same topic:

and see the wikipedia entry on Li-ion batteries:

YES! lol This is what I need too! Id like a list of like Everything you can do to optimize the G1S because yeah Ive read all the threads and stuff but its hard to put everything together and to remember all the updates and things to do when you receive it... Would be awsome to have this kind of "G1S Guide"... :) :p

The CPU gets throttled back to 1.2GHz if the battery is charting below 90%. Upgrade your AC or take out your battery to solve this.

Indeed I do have a G1S and as the other posts state, it is a bios problem causing the CPU to get throttled back to 1.2GHz when the battery is below 90% and charging - which is different from overcharging.

Upgrade your AC? If it's an issue with BIOS, how would replacing your AC adapter change anything? Wouldn't there still be a BIOS fix needed?

I personally tend to keep my battery in and plugged in when I can (so I won't lose power) as I have the HD write caching turned on.

This because one theory is that the AC adapter is to weak to power CPU 100% and charge battery 100% at the same time. Laptop then prior battery charge before CPU thus causing 50% cpu cut. idk,
