Would it be possible to get the drivers off the web or better yet will Vista x64 drivers work on Server 2008 x64?

My main concerns are video card drivers, sound, ATK, and Power4Gear.

Windows Server 2008 will be coming out in 22 days.

Back when Win2003 came out it was slightly faster in some games than XP, I just want to give it a shot and see if it's more stable / faster than Vista in one or the other way.

    THANKS

Why would you put a Server Edition on a gaming laptop?

From peoples experience with server 2003, the OS ran faster and so did all the games.

I realize this is the ASUS forum, but I'm running Server 2008 Hyper-V on the Compal IFL90 just fine. Used the x64 Vista drivers; everything worked except for fingerprint reader.

IMHO, GUI is faster, you can tune for graphics vs. service processing power, and you can use the Aero interface. So far, so good. Fyi, I'm running SQL Server x64 enterprise and multiple VM's for development stuff, no gaming.

That's what I needed to know. As long as x64 Vista drivers will work I am all set.

Theros123@ Everyone has their reasons, mine is hopefully speed, security and power, to be able to play my fav. game - World of Warcraft, and use it as a server machine if I have to for some reason.

extraBullet, one more thing: can't get Sierra Wireless 3G AirCard to work, even though others have it working in x64 Vista. Slightly frustrating not having the cell modem access...

Before I go ahead and ground zero my Vista and install Win2003 RC1 trial i need to know compatibility issues with software if there's any.
Have you tried installing most common apps such as:

    iTunes
    Nero
    AVG Antivirus
    Adobe Photoshop
    WinRar
    Daemon Tools
    World of Warcraft
    uTorrent?

Most of those might not work. You'll need to mod 2003 after that to allow it to use .msi files.
And only corp/server variations of any anti virus work on server 2003.
