I recently installed windows xp on the G1S-A1 and I felt in love with it now. I wish to know which driver works best for performance and gaming for the xp? Thanks again.

Can you please post your 3DMark benchmarks of your G1S under XP?

On mine under Vista SP1 I used to get 4618 points @ 1280x800.

    My video driver is 169.04

I'm still using Vista on my G1S and found no difference on performance (in fact, some report Vista has better performance on some newer games).

On real world examples I'm getting around 23 fps @ 1280x800 DX10 Med Specs on Crysis while running GPU demo-benchmark which is not bad at all.

I can also play HL2 Episode 2 at full resolution (1680x1050) with everything maxed out at a very comfortable 32 fps.

Another example would be Call of Duty 4 which I run at 1280x800 everything maxed out at around 35 fps.

All this running Vista SP1 with video card overclocked just a bit to 500/740 with RivaTuner. I can go a bit higher to 575/750 or 584/817 but I don't want to stress the GPU until I get a cool pad. :)

I hope this helps someone, since SP1 now I consider Vista a not-so-bad product.

    Cheers!

I just finished a clean XP install, and 3dmark gives me 4209 on default res, which is over 5% jump on my bloaty-Vista runs (no SP1 since it's not out for the public yet). This is with the 169.28 XP drivers and with no overclocks.

Crysis demo (1280x1024, all high except shaders med, shadows low, textures med)

CPU benchmark: min 2.39, avg 17.18, high 24.08 fps
GPU benchmark: min 12.27, avg 17.28, high 21.56 fps

More importantly it seems playably smooth (if barely so) in the early goings. Maybe I will get this game after all! No fps ingame right now, but I'll get back to you.

Hmmm, Interesting! Thanks for posting your results MrWhereItsAt!

I'd never got that high on my XP SP2 install! Maybe I was using a bad video driver... But still I really think I'm getting pretty acceptable frame rates under Vista SP1 ( which I got thanks to Engadget) even without overclocks.

    Cheers!

Where can i get all the drivers for XP? I have G1S, and just put in brand new 7200rpm HD instead of standard 5400rpm and installed XP SP2. CD that came with it has only drivers for Vista. I can't even get online to get other drivers cuz LAN not installed. Where can i get an ASUS CD with drivers for XP? Thanks
