    Hello.

I have recently bought a G1S and I am very happy with it. There is one problem though; when I restart the laptop, it will most of the time shut down and restart into a black screen, and nothing happends... After this I have to shut it down, wait for a while, and then turn it on, some times I have to do it multiple times before it will boot normally again.

The laptop is upgraded to 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, and a 160GB 7200RPM HD.

I firsth though it could be the RAM, but I ran Memtest86 and it showed no problems. The shop said they could send me new memory modules, if I thought it was the problem...

What could the problem be? Should I send it back for repair? Any help would be appreciated.

Check my recent posts & their corresponding threads. There are some that refer to problems similar to yours, and suggest some steps to take.

Thanks for the quick reply. I should mention that I have wiped the disk and reinstalled Windows Vista (tested both 32bit and 64bit) from both the recovery cd and from Vista dvd, multiple times.

Edit: I will do a HD test now

    The HD test passed.

They will send me some new memory modules. Lets hope it will fix it.. Else I have to send the whole laptop back to them..

I'm experiencing same issues as well. I don't think my memory sticks are bad though, since I don't encounter any issues whatsoever while using my laptop.

I don't think the memory is bad either, but its worth a try..

What do you think the problem is? Are you going to send yours back for repair?

It only started happening to me after I reformatted my machine with the Asus recovery disc (full recovery including drivers and bloatware).

When you installed Vista using the recovery DVD, did you do the full recovery as well?

I did not install with bloathware. I got the new ram modules today, and they seems to be working so far, restarted withouth problems a couple of times, hoping it will work :)
