After I got it, I downloaded the latest VGA driver for the 8600 Nvidia card from the ASUS website(V7.15.11.0119). I followed the instructions and allowed it to uninstall the old driver.

After a few days of playing games fine, I noticed that the screen resolution was at 1024 X 768 and I wanted some more room on my desktop. I changed it to a higher one, which was fine. But whenever I restart windows vista, after everything loads up, it changes it back to 1024 X 768(and moves my icons around)! Happens at any resolution above 1024 X 768. Haven't tried any lower resolutions. Tried different combinations of "apply" and "yes" to keeping the new size. Even tryed just "ok". Same thing every time.

My desktop has Vista Premium and also has a Nvidia 8600GTS video card (I know it's a little better than the 8600GT) and it doesn't do this. I'm also wondering why my desktop has so many more options under "display settings" than my Asus Laptop does?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Joe

Joe - sometimes the uninstallation process leaves some bits and pieces behind. My advice would be to uninstall the driver, run a driver cleaner program, then reinstall to see if the problem goes away.....

You can find a good driver cleaner at http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1672 but be sure to read the instructions before use.
