G1S - What's the brand of the HDD?

Ive been searching a bit and I couldnt find the answer... what's the brand of the HDD that's in the G1S? Hitachi, Seagate...??? I heard those were good and I need a fast HDD for playing Sims 2 lol it really does make the game faster, but anyways I think the G1S would handle this game really good Im just curious about the brand? Thanks!

Is there a particular reason you want a certain brand?

 

My first G1S-A1 had memory/HDD failures, and it included an Hitachi HDD.

My second one, which is working great included a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 drive.

The second one is far better obviously, but I purchased a Seagate Momentus 7200.2 120GB drive, and it wipes the floor with both of them. I'm actually shocked how fast this drive is compared to my desktop one's. So if you have the extra cash replace the one it comes with.

I'll be using the Seagate drive as an external one lol. Still trying to find a proper enclosure that supports eSata though.

 

Well, no not really. I don't really mind the brand but I wanted a fast HDD. And I heard Hitachi was pretty fast so I guess I should be happy with it

 

its a coin flip. people will tell you alot of things. some will tell you hitachi is faster other will tell you seagate. We tested transfer rate on all of them over the years. It is a coinflip, a cat in the bag. You wont even know which is faster. every batch is different so is every revision

 

All the 5,400 RPM drives of about the same size are about the same speed. If you want fast, you need to invest in a 7,200 RPM drive. For those drives, from what I have seen, the Hitachi 200 GB drive is faster than the Seagate 160 GB. It is bigger too, but more expensive.
