    hi
im newb here and its my first topic but i had read alot here before i bought that baby ;]
i have upgraded stock model by changing 5400rpm 160gb hdd to 7200rpm 200gb segate momentus hdd, and changed stock 2x1gb pc667 to 2x2gb pc800 ocz 5-5-5-15 modules.
my question is, is there any way to run synchronous 800fsb on cpu and mem cuz right now they r 800/667 ;/
as spoke to asus support, chipset does support that fsb but while g1s was projected there was no pc800 modules so bios does not have implemented that option, but in future bios releases it may be included but as we know that may take long time if ever it will come.
any one of you tryed to run 800/800 on cpu/mem ?? and how to do this??
propably ill have to use some sort of software from OS layer to change fsb, but im worried about multiplayer that is propably constant so it will propably rise cpu fsb too ;/
so i was thinking of some sort of forcing cpu to run at 667/667 with mem and then rising it to 800 but im not expert, thats why im seaking any help or sugetions here.
thx for you notice and replys ;]
ps. sry for my poor english ;]

No mobile chipset supports 800MHz ram right now, so it will only run at 667MHz.

err dude if u simply go to intels site and read about PM965 u will se that it does support 800-533fsb, only problem is how to run memmory at this speed in g1s without touching cpu clocks thats why im asking for any aplication that will allow me to change multiplier or any way to start cpu at 667 synchronous with memmory and then in os u just simply rise fsb up to 800 with newest setfsb ;]

i'll put this simple. No you can't, no you will never have a 1:1 ratio cpu/ram 800mhz on the g1s unless the 965M chipset has a secret unhide feature of supporting 800MHZ FOR THE RAM ! what you said "is not wrong" but on this case it will not be possible

    http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/GM965/index.htm

""""800 MHz front side bus support Provides up to 20 percent faster data transfer rate compared to the previous generation bus speed.

---->>>> Support for dual channel DDR2 667 MHz memory technology Support for increased performance memory technology. """"

Err dude, so if it supports it, then why did you come on here to ask us how to do it? And then why are people not running their Santa Rosa platforms at that speed stock?

hmmm then ppl form asus dont really konw what they put in their laptops, cuz technican clearly told me that it should be posible cuz chipset is capable of but bios ist ready for that... so what use of 800 moduels is there ??

There isn't except for overclocking purposes.

Well those laptops that have desktop cpus and chipsets can indeed use 800MHz ram. But other than those, nothing.

Also, a 800MHz dimm downclocked to 667MHz will have tighter timings than a stock running 667MHz dimm

hmm lets try different way ;]
is T7300 capable to run over 800fsb?
is there any way to influence speedstep, so u can lower multiplier and simultanously rise voltage?
or just turn off speedstep and let cpu run on initial x6 multiplier like in idle state but with higher voltage?
i know that now it is different path but still trying to utilize 100% of my mem modules without o/c cpu too much ;]
i know that im asking many questions but its my first laptop and i dont wana burn it after 3 days ;]
o/c on desktops is much easier ;]

If you don't want to burn your laptop, don't overclock it.

Laptops are already very tight on their thermal dissipation properties, overclocking is a very bad idea unless absolutely necessary. It's certainly not necessary to get that 5% of perceived real-life performance by tweaking this and that.

forget it man ! it's not possible with a 965M chipset. ram only works until 667mhz. The 800mhz is really for oc reasons/lower latency just like it was allready pointed. No laptop working in a standard way (normal cooling, etc) will work with that oc.

you had to rise the fsb 133mhz above the 800mhz. not possible.

    Just accept it !
