    Hello guys,

I am sorry to create ANOTHER thread on this infamous bug that ASUS strangely doesn't want to comment on, I have some questions.

My laptop succumbed to the common bug today, and I'm quite depressed because a laptop is crucial for my studies in university. I called ASUS RMA line, and they said it's out of warranty, and the only option I have is for me to send it in for a repair but I'll have to pay for everything, which can be up to a few hundred dollars. I also called a local ASUS repair depot (that's luckily in my city) and they told me it will cost $215...

Now that may not seem a lot to most, but I am unable to spend that much on repairs right now, for a bug that is not directly my fault (right?). I've requested a RMA number through ASUS also...

I've heard people getting replacement G50 laptops, but is this possible for those with an out of warranty G1S too?

What are my options? Is it only to send my laptop for repairs out of my wallet?

I hope I'm eligible for the G50 +repair costs.. I will frown if I get another defective g1s.

call for a RMA then go and explain to the technicians. Tell them you are aware of the problem with the chips, demand a print out of any earlier tech work and ask for a solution. I was offered a one time fix of F3SV, or $270ish CDN for refurbished G50vt-x5 four months after warranty. Of course at the time, they told me 1050hires screen, two harddrives, gaming mouse (different G50vt) and I agreed to THOSE specs.

Anyways, Asus delivered a flawed product to YOU. They have to deal with it and can take things up with nVidia if they choose. I read somewhere on the tubes that some assemblers received reimbursement from nVidia to deal with the problem. I dont think they even lost any money on the deal they offered me since this machine is already a few years old and was only $1000 to begin with, considering the extra money I paid them. My F3SV(higher res, bluetooth, biometrics) was $1800 new when i bought it, then I upgraded the HDD and RAM, which they took.
Makes me angry, but at least they dealt with me out of warranty.

Ugh, I hope they won't just charge me to stick another 8600 on there....
