I am considering buying a G1S from either GenTech or btotech. My question is about the Asus Global Warranty.

Why is it I read on GenTech that Customize HD and RAM does not void Asus Warranty. Customized CPU will void Asus Global Warranty.

btotech - asus warranty is void if cpu, ram, hdd are customized.

I just want to upgrade the hard drive but figure keeping the Asus warranty would be nice.

So does the asus warranty work different for the two stores?

as long as you dont customize the cpu it shouldn't void the warranty

Nope, the thing is that upgrading the HD/RAM is a grey area. Because of the possibility of user messing up the system(very rare but still possible), it's assumed that the warranty is not intact. However, there are no 'stickers' or 'seals' where the RAM/HD is. BTOTech is playing it safe by assuming it'll be void so the end customer won't be 'mislead' if anything happens.

If a seller is going to do something that upgrades a stock version of an ensemble/preboxed (prepackaged) system, you'd think (and hope) that they'd test it beforehand.
