Hi, I have a serious problem on my hands. I just finished windows updates. After booting and configuring it started back up onto the desktop just fine. However, i put it into hibernate and now when I start it back up, right after it finishes booting POST, it would re-run the whole process again! I have hard booted it and it's still doing the same thing. I have tried it on pure battery alone and pure a/c alone too.

Im out of ideas! please help! I have notes for class on my hard drive so formatting is NOT an option.

    Hi,

You can try Knoppix and Knoppix Rescue CD after reading the Knoppix Rescue-FAQ. You may also want to peek this Overview of the data rescue process using Knoppix.

Then download Knoppix ISO, burn it it to CD, place CD into G1S's DVD/CD-drive, reboot your G1S and press ESC to boot from CD, and copy your valuable data to an USB-memory stick.

Then you can try to recover your system, after you have saved your data.

It is a good practice to use C: drive only for the Windows system, and D: drive for your data. In case of system crash, you can "safely" reformat C: and re-install Windows.

    Br,
    /Tomi

    Sypher,

I tried this with Knoppix Live CD version 5.1.

When you see the Knoppix boot screen, please type this command to boot Knoppix properly on G1S:

    knoppix screen=1680x1050 noagp xmodule=vesa

    Good luck!

    /Tomi

Another solution is to remove the internal hard disk and place it into an external USB-SATA-hard disk enclosure and read the valuable data using some other computer.

    Sypher,

Did you manage to rescue the data?
