On my G1S, I notice that one of my 4 usb ports has power when the laptop is shutdown, but is plugged in. If I unplug when off, the port loses power and will get power, with the laptop on battery, when the laptop is on.

Is this a feature of the notebook? I noticed this because a usb hub I bought stays on even when the laptop is turned off. I tried the hub in the other ports and it does not receive any power when the laptop is off and plugged in.

    Thank you.

Did you check if you plug the usb hub into another port and then turn off your laptop, it's not on?

@ Spider_3000: I think he already covered your question

@ metril: I don't know if this is a feature, and sorry I can't say if the same happens for my laptop since I don't have a USB hub :(

Try out a wired usb mouse. The optical light will tell you if its on or not.

The top right USB port is always powered. (that's if you're looking at it from the rear) This is a feature intended to allow the charging of USB charged devices like iPods when the computer is powered down. Only one port has this feature.

Thank you! I was worried that my laptop was not grounded properly.

Good to know - sorry I didn't get a chance to test last night (worked late and had to get up early :( )
