Hi everyone, I've owned my G1S for about 2 months now great machine does everything I want, after I put XP on it. I never had any need for the extra fancy utilities like Multiframe or Power4Gear so I never installed them, thus I also never installed Direct Console which controls the little lcd (or led?) screen above the keyboard. As a result of this it simply displays the ASUS logo 24/7 unless turned off. I installed Direct Console this afternoon to try it out (was a little bored) and it seems to be that the word ASUS is burnt into the screen. If I make the whole thing bright/light up you can easily see a faint ASUS ontop. Also when text scrolls across you can see it dimming and brightening as it moves over where the word ASUS usually was before I installed Direct Console.
So is it really burnt in for good or will it fade away? If it's permanent is it worth pursuing under warranty or was I responsible? Cheers.

You're suffering from "image persistence" (similar to the good ol' CRT burn-in). I think that it is reversible but it depends on the type of LCD.
Check this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_persistence
I do not think you can pursue warranty since this is basically wear and tear.
