Are there two different chassis used in the G1S as i have seen both this variety, with red lights, and like strip things either side of the keyboard. As well as the other green variety with no strips.

    What gives?

The red "variety" is obviously the G2s --- 17" version.... :p

You must be referring to the G2S (17") which has red flashing lights. G1S (15.4") has green flash lights. All G1S use the same chassis regardless which model. Thanks!
