As said, it flashes constantly at a constant rate of approximately once per second, regardless of what I do (it doesn't flash more quickly during games, but it is constantly flashing even now as I type this thread). What could be the problem?

isn't the frequency of the flashing supposed to vary depending on some sort of "graphics intensity"?

It's part of the bloatware, uninstall it and you'll see the flashes no more.

Basically, I uninstalled 90% of the stuff I found in add/remove programs, only kept power4gear and the ATKOSD(ATK anything) so I could use the volume control/power mode button.

I don't consider Direct Console to be bloatware. The lights may not have much use other than aesthetics, but Direct Console also controls the little OLED display above the keyboard. This allows me to see the time even when I'm playing fullscreen games - very useful when I'm burning some time until I have to do something.

As for Direct Flash itself, it has two states: on and off. When DirectX is running, in games or aero, it will flash at a constant pace. Otherwise, nothing happens. If this annoys you, there is an option in Direct Console to turn just the Flash off.

I wished I could control the speed at which it flashes. =D
