Someone PLEASE help me with this... I use my laptop to make music, and I'm trying to record a part and because I'm not hitting the keys or mouse the damn thing suspends on me in the middle of everything. To make matters worse, it asks for the password every time I want to get back in. I've uninstalled Power4Gear, set windows powermanagement to do nothing, told it not to ask me for the password, and its still misbehaving. Funny thing is, it only happens when I'm on AC power... on battery it does what I tell it to.

Any ideas, guys? I hope so, because it's driving me bananas.

    I smell ACPI driver bugs...

But first, make sure you don't have any 3rd party power management software running. Not only Power4Gear changes the Windows Power settings, but other software as well: RMClock, NHC. Just check all the software you are running, or better still, shutdown anything non-essential to determine if one of those programs is the culprit.

Then, of course, make sure that Windows power settings tell the computer to do nothing.

    Otherwise, update ACPI drivers.

And if that doesn't do it either, remove ACPI drivers temporarily until you record your part. Then put them back on because they are essential...
