ASUS G1S-A1 here, how do I safely remove the keys from the keyboard?

I think my spacebar has become less responsive and doesn't.... "bounce" as much. I want to lift the key to see if I can do anything about it.

So... how do I take off the key without snapping anything?

You could just try pulling... :) The keys have some tabs that should come off and can then be snapped back into place.

Be gentle though. Those tabs are not heavy-duty equipment. :)

PS: Disclaimer: I have not tried this with the space bar, since it's a large key it mechanism may be different.

If your Asus is still under warranty, call them and have them cross-ship you a new keyboard. :)
I've tried to remove the individual keys before and it's just not worth the time and effort to pry out the keys and risk snapping the holds.

On the space bar I think there is a metal bar that is held in on either side, if it got loose from those holders you will lose bounce. It's kind of a pain to get it back in, but it's not so bad.

Yeah you should be able to, just make sure you are careful taking the spacebar off... If I remember correctly, it's been a while since I had my G1s, the bar is held on to the spacebar with two tabs and then the ends of the bar tuck into holders on either side of the base of the keyboard. You'll have to fiddle with the angles to get it to line back up, but it shouldn't be too bad. Just don't use too much force and be patient with it or you risk breaking those small plastic tabs that hold it in.

Do I just pull on the key to lift it out? Any particular way? I want to be careful and not rip the thing into pieces.

Yeah, you may need to use something for some torque like a small flat piece of plastic or the cap to a bic pen or something similar (popsicle stick even lol), but it should just lift out with a little 'pop' after some stress. But be careful, it will only flex so far without breaking the tabs so u wanna get the right angle...
