Like I said earlier, the new BIOS will release "very soon" and it has:

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
I paid Asus to hurry this bios along but no thanks needed G1s owners.
-
sorry guys but it's not 100% fixed.. rmclock solution again for now
cpu does not stay stuck at 1.2ghz and just bounces around.
back to rmclock -
-
man, this makes me mad.. !!! and change the topic title, no ?? -
Does the G1s B1 also have this problem or just the A1?
-
At least it seems to be a little bit better when it jumps around than when it stayed static at 1.2 Ghz. Anyways, thank you very much Ken for keeping on Asus about this issue. I (and I am sure others) really appreciate it!
-
I wonder what bug can be so complicated to solve that it takes 4 months or whatever, and even then it's not fixed properly?
More likely than not, I'm a better programmer than ASUS bios programmers (and in machine code, not Matlab which is what I currently use). And I'm not a very good programmer... -
Impressive but not completely solved.
While TM1 and TM2 is enabled SuperPI 1M score is 28s and the best is 24s. -
mine got 34s :S
-
I think ASUS want to solve the problem and still make TM1 and TM2 enabled.

I said it before and i will say it again. The 90w adapter that comes with the g1s is UNDERPOWERED. asus has an interest in keeping the adapter from frying. A perfect way is to downclock the cpu when the battery is charging. Believe it or not that is what it is. I am no engineer....
-
But why it work good when TM1 & TM2 disabled?
-
-
badly implemented tm1 and tm2 policy

instead of badly how about intentionally?
-
In either case, the notebook is not working properly... So it's either bad design, or BIOS bugs. None of them is pretty.

Thanks,

The problem was reported a while ago, new BIOS 205 improved from BIOS 204, I was told they decided to fix it this way as it is on BIOS 205. -
i tried to update my bios from 204 to 205 but when i check bios still its 204.
heres how i do it...
download 205bios update from asus website
extract the file
open winflash
open extracted file
its shows 204 version to update to 205
click flash
automatically shutdown my laptop
manually restart Laptop and check Bios version by pressing F2 .....still 204 bios version
anybody knows whats wrong?
thanks -
So is it worth upgrading to the new bios if I want to install WindowsXP as a dual booting laptop with vista?
-
Yes, because you can put your HDD in SATA compatibility mode, and that means you don't have to tinker with nlite and slipstreaming SATA drivers on the Windows CD.
-
I have the same issue. It wont allow me to flash. The unit shuts down, I see the asus logo in the OLED display and then I wait for minutes. nothing
-
After click flash in Windows and computer shuts down, turn on the computer but don't enter BIOS yet because the BIOS flash not even start, when turn the computer back on it'll automatically go to BIOS flash and when it's done the computer will turn off then it's done.
-
I suggest using the more straightforward and safer EasyFlash or DOS AFLASH methods in my BIOS guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=174395

Thanks! -
About the CPU issue, BIOS 205 is how they decided to fxied the problem and they think it's the best for now. -
-
-
Well, yeah. But being a scientist and not having thoroughly verified the issue myself, I had to use a qualifier that places the correct amount of doubt on my statement.
-
I have been reading the forums about this CPU issue and I'm a little confused. First off how can you tell what speed the CPU is running at. I have had my G1S for about 3 months and have not really had any issues. I do find that it takes a long time to load Vista and to shutdown. I haven't done a claen reinstall of Vista and have manually removed most of the programs that pl suggest as bloatware. Also I am using the stock BIOS. But reading these forums it seems that I should update the BIOS. Basically I want to get the most out of this machine. Any suggestions on how to get started on optimizing my system.
-
Check the various thread on the G1S BIOS problem of CPU being locked at low performance when battery under 90%.
Besides that, general optimization guidelines apply. See the XP Guide (if you have XP) or Vista guide (if you have Vista) in my signature.
Updating BIOS won't do much for you because the problem has not been fixed (see above). But by all means, check the list of changes of the latest BIOS and if you think you can use those changes, update. I have a guide for BIOS update, as well(see my signature).

okay can some one please tell me how do i use this 205 Bios???
