On a swiss website i found following G1S model AK074C. Until now i have never heard of it. The only details which i know are

    15,4 WSXGA+
    C2D T7700
    NVidia 8600MGT
    2048 MB RAM (667Mhz)
    250 GB HD
    DVD Super Multi Lightscribe
    Turbo Memory 1GB
    Build in Cam 1,3 MP
    Vista Home Premium

The stores which advertise it say it could be ordered in the beginning of october for about 2470 Swiss Franks (1544,- EUR / 2022 USD)

Does anybody else heard about a G1S coming with a T7700?

Just for notice: In Germany the price just dropped 200 EUR by a couple of retailers. The cheapest price is 1298,- EUR

Given the G1S A1 with the T7500 runs like it has a T7300 in there due to the faulty ASUS BIOS, Id read some reviews and check the super pi scores before commiting...

That only happens while at <90% battery. If you buy this laptop to run on its battery, you bought the wrong laptop. If you want this laptop to game and be the best 15.4" gaming machine out there, then this is it.

Sadly thats not the case. Theres a significant difference between the CPU performance at 100% battery life with the AC plugged or unplugged (some 5% difference on super pi, 3-4% with wprime).

I know 3-5% doesnt sound like much but it means that the G1S CPU performs closer to the lower speed CPUs in other manufacturers notebooks (e.g. A T7700 is going to perform closer to a T7500) and that 5% loss almost totally negates the performance advantage of the GDDR3 memory in any CPU hungry game.

I don't know about you, but the battery life on the G1s is not good enough where I would even want to game without the cord in. I honestly don't see why people complain about this.

Battery life is ok...not great but ok. However the reason people are complaining is this :-

I sometimes want to sit on the other side of my living room and just browse the web for an hour or so and so I dont drag the AC adaptor with me. I then decide I want to play some, e.g. TF2. I NOW HAVE TO WAIT 30-60 MINUTES FOR MY LAPTOP TO RECHARGE TO 90%+ AC POWER BEFORE I CAN PLAY. *THAT* is plain stupid and is why so many of us are complaining.

And again, my big beef and why I am chiming in on this post repetatively is that the problem is THE G1S RUNS ***FASTER*** O N B A T T E R Y P O W E R - only 1-2 FPS but those 1-2 FPS will be a big deal in the long run.

The battery issue is very annoying. One should think that a (almost) premium product did not have this kind of flaw.

Does anyone have the G1S-B1. How much better does it preform in terms of FPS and synthetic benchmarks then the normal G1S and how much more battery drain is there.

Heres my question then. I understand the inconvenience caused by this problem but couldn't you just remove the battery while you play the game and run using AC power..? Granted you shouldn't have to be but its better than waiting...
