when I hook my laptop up to my Dell 2007WFP (via VGA, since I don't have a HDMI->DVI adapter), it auto detects the screen, and starts clone mode like normal (they're both 1680x1050 displays).

However, recently, when I close the lid and it disables the laptops monitor (like normal) the 2007WFP comes up with "Signal out of range, please set to 1680x1050@60hz".

Using the Windows Display Settings or the nvidia control panel, its on 60hz...but as soon as I close the lid, it decides it can't display the image any more. I've tried updating the drivers, no change. Doesn't matter what the resolution is. It's not entering hibernation/sleep/shutting down when the lid is closed, since its the AC profile.

Rather annoying, with 5.1 speakers, it blocks the center channel with the lid slightly up ;)

    Any ideas?

That's weird, the drivers are up to date I assume?

However, closing the rid restricts air flow, you may want to take that into account.

I believe you will have to go into your nvidia settings and set the dell display as your primary display. Sounds like when you close the lid, the asus built-in desplay is the primary... so when it turns off there is nothing to clone.

Drivers are up to date...maybe thats the problem. I'll try reverting to the ones that came with the laptop.

Nvidia control panel, set to primary, same thing happens.
Interestingly, if I set it to Single Display, or use the Asus hotkeys to switch to "CRT" (from "LCD/CRT"), it gives the same - guess it isn't lid related.

Heatwise I'm not fussed, its for minimum noise (and thus lower power modes) on a higher quality display :)

Downgraded the drivers, works now. I'll have to figure out if I can run later revision drivers at all :/
