Just got my first laptop - Asus G1s. It's taking me a little while to get used to using a laptop keypad vs a pc keyboard. Overall, I'm pleased with my choice. The one thing that bothers me though is the battery life on the
G1S. I can barely get 2hrs off a fully charged battery. And I haven't even started gaming yet! I was just working on getting my wireless networking set up and I was given the warning that my battery charge had gotten to the "critical stage" and then the laptop went to sleep on me.
Is there a place where I can get a replacement/ spare battery for the G1S?
I typically will using my laptop around AC outlets, but occasionally I'd like to roam free![]()

I ordered a second battery for my G1S from BTOTech straight-up when I put the order in for the computer. Truthfully, two hours (maybe a little more) is all you're going to really get out of the G1S. A second battery would be useful when you don't have an outlet handy, but I would suggest turning off all non-essential functions of your laptop while you're mobile. If you don't need WiFi or Bluetooth, turn them off. If you want to increase your overall battery life, change to a different power plan setting. Reducing the screen brightness and minimum processor state will most likely tack on another 30 minutes or so. And yes, if you think it'll be worth it for you, get another battery. Just remember, being your first laptop, that you have to charge one and then charge the other.

The average is about 2 hours reported by most users, or even slightly less in high power mode. You can find the replacement battery here. Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. Since I'm new to Vista, how do I go about shutting off wifi, bluetooth and other non-essentials. Do I do this in the bios? Do I enter the bios via the old "del" key? I've already setting power settings to power saving via the toolbar on the lower right, but it didn't seem to make any significant difference to me.
I'll be ordering another battery in a couple of weeks when my pocketbook recovers from this initial purchase. Hopefully, the one battery at excaliberpc.com will still be there
Thanks again for your responses and any answers you have to my questions above. -
the wifi+blutooth can be shut off by the function key...cant remeber wich want, but I think it is Fn+f4...anyway, press FN and the F key with the wifi sign. For the battery saving mode, it's at the bottom right of your screen, you will see a small icon representing a battery, right click on it and press Power guear extrem.
By there you can ajust the mode to the saving of battery that you want
Good luck, and dont forgot to turn it back to high perf when you game
