    Hello all,

Ok, after doing all my research, I am all set to purchase a G1S-A1 in about 2 weeks time. It's got the specs I need at a price I can afford and I am really really sold on it.

But after doing some more reading earlier - I found some people didn't like the way it looked. After reading some more, I see that it has some lights thingie going on at the side of the LCD?? Can I turn this off?

In my 'What notebook to buy' thread I said I didn't care about looks - but I sort of meant I don't need anything that looks cool, like all those fancy desktops that have paint-jobs - not for me. However, I will be using this for work and I don't want something that looks like a college kid would be carrying around. I need something that's at least slightly businesslike.

I mean, I didn't like what they did with the WASD keys (but could live with it), but now I get a lightshow too?? Yikes.

Does anyone have any images of the bling bling of the G1S-A1 they would like to share? I looked at the images in the review here but I couldn't really get an idea of how it looked. Also tried using Google Images - but all I could come up with were the same stock images.

    Thanks!

The side lights can be turned off via a program client.

Yes, true that. I just noticed that too in the comparison pix vs the F3SV in that other really long thread. I've never really bothered looking at notebooks before since I thought I would always prefer a desktop since I do game too and I just thought if it said it was a 15.4" it would be the same as all 15.4s, hahaha.

I wonder how this'll fit in economy class? Like the cramped 3-4-3 economy class of the major airlines.. Hmmm.. that A8JS is looking a bit more inviting now.. :p

I will be going to my local store tomorrow to eyeball the G1S. I think I can live with the extra inch or so and as long as I can turn off the lights. And maybe find some way to blacken all the neon green stuff.

Just noticed that you're also from Calgary, as am I. Where are you planning to get your G1 from, MemoryExpress? $1979 there. very nice deal.
