    So after about a 3 months of waiting for Asus to repair my computer, I finally got it returned. I decided to myself " I guess I dont play video games anymore, I am going to try linux". I learned after a few weeks that I need me some virtual blood every now and again so tonight I switched back to vista. It was like coming home after being away for a long time. I knew where everything was and I expected everything to work with little hassle. Then I realized that the foundations had gone to crap since I had left...

    ANYWAYS, my video is lagging really hard. In fact, I can't even get steam games to load. I click on them and it says game is loading in that little green box. Then the box disappears and nothing happens. When I looked at my windows performance rating, it says my video rating is 1. How cant his be? I have a nvidia 9600m gs. I downloaded my drivers from drivers2go.com. I noticed that when I go to my display settings, the selection is bare. I can no longer select other monitors. I tried running a movie and the movie runs really choppy. I thought, ok maybe I should use a factory driver but that didn't fix things. In fact, when I switched drivers, device manger doesn't recognize what type of video card I have.

    I have never had a problem like this before. When I bought this computer it was just a G1S with a nvidia gforce 8600m GT. When asus finally got around to repairing my computer, I guess they felt guilty so they updated my computer innards to a g1sn. My 8600 never gave me these problems though.

    I would really suggest trying different GPU drivers. Options:

    * Nvidia official mobile drivers
    * ASUS-released drivers for your model, from support.asus.com
    * Modded drivers from laptopvideo2go.com

    I do not know the website drivers2go.com.

    ah I meant laptopvideo2go

    I also tried getting drivers from asus and they didn't help. Nvidia just says that you must download the drivers from asus

    Perhaps try an older version?

    What are the temperatures of your GPU?
    Is it upclocking properly when under load? (check the clocks with GPUz or RivaTuner)
