    Hi there

I have a relatively new G1Sn which I recently received from ASUS as a swap for my old G1 which died under (just) warranty.

It has 3gb of RAM and I want to upgrade that to 4. Looking at crucial's site I have two choices:

    2GB
    Part #: CT857087 • DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800

    or

    2GB
    Part #: CT857089 • DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667

Do i need to match exectly what I have? How do i find out exactly what I have? Which do i need? (they are the same price).

Its running on Vista Ultimate if that is relevant.

    Many thanks for your help.

Windows Vista 32-bit will NOT recognize the full 4GB ram, and direct user reports from early on after initial release proved that the G1s series actually runs *slower* on 2x4GB than on 2x1GB.

If you proceed, you will want to match the type (800 v 667) that you already have in the existing 2GB stick - no further matching necessary beyond that.

Thanks for the reply. I naively thought Ultimate was 64 bit. Mine isn't, so there is no point upgrading.

    Thanks once again
