This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    G1Sn: Optical Drive Issue and Solution

    For some reason my optical drive was not reading game PC CD-ROMs nor DVDs, but music CDs were read fine.

    After some hunting and pecking I finally found a thread that solved the issue....whew.

    Anyway, I just wanted to resurrect it in case anyone else ran into the same problem as I did.

    FYI....I called ASUS support and they simply said to send the drive back so I can get a new one....argh.

    Ah yes, the good ol' iTunes filters messing up DVD playback. I had forgotten about that. Thanks, I bookmarked it for future use ;)
