I ordered my G1Sn-X1 recently. Living in india, my friend will bring it to me here.
Since he is a total n00b. Its hopeless asking him for any info. So if possible please try and answer a few questions for me.

My usage is a bit of everything and NOT a lot of something.
    Casual gamer, coding, surfing etc.

    1. How good or bad is the T5550 1.83GHz processor??? It seems like a bottleneck.
    2. How is the heat management of the machine. Can anyone post GPU & CPU temp in idle and load. The GPU is NV 9500GS 512MB.
    3. Does the X1 have bluetooth. I know that the bestbuy site does not mention it but it is nonetheless known for inaccurate details. All other versions of G1Sn on other sites having slightly varied configs have bluetooth.

    Thanks to all in advance...

    NR rocks.. :)

    1. CPU bottleneck will show in some games. But the main player is still the GPU.
    2. Some people have terrible heat problems with the G1S, others are satisfied. I don't know how that applies to the X1 version. There's nothing to do but wait and see...
    3. Probably no BT, to keep price down -- but I'm just guessing, I don't know.

hey.. .so ill answer my own questions...

    1. Answered by EBE. Not really seen a difference. Dont know

    2. No... there is hardly any heat in this machine... I suppose im the first person to report that there is NO COVERING TAPE on the vents. I have been playing Quake 4 at ultra high. for about 3hours now. The temp remains constant at around 65-70degrees. I guess the heat issue is only in the 8XXX cards.

    3. No sadly there is no bluetooth. No bag. No mouse. Slow processor. Low res screen (WXGA) as compared to the G1Sn-A1.

But over and above that its a pretty gud machine for the price i got. $999

I use the laptop exactly for that. Sometimes games, sometimes coding, and a lot of internet surfing.

I had a desktop before buying this laptop, and since i bought it i have not regreted anything. Well maybe not buying it sooner!

    1. How good or bad is the T5550 1.83GHz processor??? It seems like a bottleneck.
Well. For my uses, and for what you write, your uses, the processor aint that much of a problem. The only real time i notice any problems is... well.. i cant really recall anytime having problems with it, not eveng while playing games (Team Fortress 2, Half Life Episode One, Bioshock). I can play these games at high settings without any lag or problem.

    2. How is the heat management of the machine. Can anyone post GPU & CPU temp in idle and load. The GPU is NV 9500GS 512MB.
I have a post on the temperatures here. In general, without an external cooler, the GPU goes goes up to 68-72 in gaming and 60-ish in idle. The CPU with cooler hardly ever goes more than 70 and in idle mode can go 50-ish; with the cooler i have gotten it under 50.

    3. Does the X1 have bluetooth. I know that the bestbuy site does not mention it but it is nonetheless known for inaccurate details. All other versions of G1Sn on other sites having slightly varied configs have bluetooth.

No bluetooth. I was dissappointed about this, but i hardly ever really need it. There are some usb bluetooth adapters. Some of them are hardly bigger than the port itself.

Hope this helps ya. Did you get the laptop? Your probably already gaming! hehe

Well. Im in a cool place. so that could be it. Is that 38'C?? wow.. where i live its hardly ever over 29'C. My room should be around 25-ish'C.

A few months ago, i was in a place where the temperatures was 'close' to what you say and my normal notebook temperature was higher than what i posted. Thats the reason i bought an external cooler for it.

When gaming, the temperatures do go up high up to 70'C if your not using a cooler. I have been reading a few forums on temperature control, and its seems a normal value for that. I think you only have to worry if it goes up like over 90.

You have noticed that its different from idle versus gaming right?

Ill try to make reading while gaming and not using the cooler. But none the less, i think its best to prevent any problems. So if you can, do get a cooler, even if its just so you know you have both the internal fan and an extra help from outside. Besides, it also works as a little pad for when you play with the laptop in your.... lap.

One last thing. Try using the NBProbe application. I think its installed by default in the ASUS folder from the StartMenu. It can give you a hint if everything is ok or not. If you cant find it, you can get it from here.
