I did a search on the forums but i found the answers a bit vague...and nothing specifically refering to the original Asus G1.

Is the S/pdif output optical or coax?

When i enabled S/pdif for digital output i didnt see a red dot on the inside of the headphone port....or does this only turn on when u plug in one of those mini toslink adapters?

Thanks, sorry if it had been answered before.

I think the red light only turns on when you insert a jack. It turns on briefly when I insert a normal headphone jack, usually. But when there is nothing there, it's off.

Actually, i just did something that was probably a bit stupid...but it work, heh. I opened a pen and took the ink tube thing out (pretty much exactly the same size as a 3.5mm jack), i figured since they were clear i would see the red light travel through the plastic if i inserted it into the port. The red light then turned on.

    :)

    Thanks for the reply
