I got my G1p as an open box from best buy a few months back and had a problem with it so i took it back to the geeksquad0 to get repaired today. They told me that they cannot repair the notebook and that i have 15 days to pick out a new notebook. So should i stick with the g1p or get the best buy g1s? it would only cost me $100 to "upgrade" to the g1s.

Does the 8600 work as well as the 7700 in dx9 games?

Thats pretty good! But what windows did u have on the G1p? G1S has Vista Home premium so it might not run games as well.... even so 8600m GT is quite a bit better than the 7700!

i had XP pro and vista on it. I know the 8600 is newer, but it being a Dx10 card doesn't have to emulate dx9 to run older games?

The 8600 is better. It is a tad bit slower than a 7900GS, but with some overclocking it goes beyond it. It will play both dx10 and dx9 games.

Seeing as I have a G1P, i would definetly jump at the chance to get a new G1S for only 100 bucks more.

$100 is a great price, but everyone would remember that the Best Buy G1s is different than the ones from the online retailers.

The BB G1s comes with a lower-spec CPU (2.0 instead of 2.2 GHz), and does not include the Bag and Mouse. But still, it's a heck of a bargain for $100 more.
