Hey guys. Thanks for all the help in the past. Haven't had to come to this site in a while but here I am again...

I turned on my laptop this morning and the screen was blank. I tried to plug it into my plasma display via an HDMI cable but none of the Fn+F7 or Fn+F8 (screen switching) buttons were doing anythig and i couldn't even tell if I was into windows yet (i don't think i was).

I did some searchig and i did the memory test, vga test, took the battery out, pressed and held the power button a bunch of times, tried it all a bunch of times, and nothing works.

Also, its very important to note that the warranty on this notebook was from 5-2007 to 5-2009. Seeing as its 9-2009, i think im pretty much SOL on that front.

So fellas, what are my options at this point? Is my expensive 2.5 y/o Asus G1S crapped out?

    P.S.
I really miss desktops... so easy to repair.

Video card is most likely dead.

The graphics card is likely dead on that one. Nothing you can do to fix it unless you can get a working G1S system board, which I know Asus has none of.

Contact ASUS tell them you want this fixed, and they will charge you a fee to get it fixed. This will be around $185USD and they won't fix it. What they will do instead, is send you a G50vt-X5 in exchange for your G1S.

I know because I sent mine in just over a month ago. They promised me a X1 but I got a X5 instead which I sorta feel slightly cheesed on but whatever it's better than having nothing at all.

Keep in mind I traded off a G1S-A1 the one with Bluetooth and the higher resolution screen for basically just a faster graphics card and system bus. So I'm sorta pissed that I had to rebuild my system and mostly I lost the better and higher resolution screen which is big for me, but at least I didn't send them my drive. I just gave them my laptop without the drive.

I wasn't happy, I actually loved my G1S-A1, it still looked brand-new because of how well I kept it, as it still had the protective plastic on the lid, I had it for over 2 years too and I figured I was either gonna get the next Gamer laptop by Asus the one after the G51vx ie. next year's model or go back to the desktop since my favorite game is coming out next year (StarCraft II), and just use the G1S as just a laptop to mess around with.

    Anyways good luck.
