I've had my G1S for about a year now

    T7200
    8600m GT 256mb 174.74 drivers

Lately I noticed my laptop shutting down while gaming (WoW). I decided to pull up ntune and GPU idle its running about 75-78c, and while gaming its running 95c+ and into the 100's. I have it setup on a desk with the back end propped up for more air flow but it never used to run like this. Ive ran virus scans to make sure nothings using the CPU. What might be causing this?

It's most likely a defective GPU. It's been announced that many of the 8xxx series , especially the 8600 GPUs are defective. I'd contact Asus and have them replace your GPU, most likely they'll replace your entire mobo and give you a 9xxx GPU. In some cases, they'll give you a new G50 notebook as a replacement.

There are two ways to solve this:

    1. Replace your video card because yours might be defective (Contact Asus)
    2. Apply Arctic Silver and somehow try to modify the heatsink and the fans. (Voids warranty, can be "deadly")

Like on the neighboring thread, just to cover all options, I'm going to ask the OP if he has cleaned the dust from the notebook fan and heatsink fins recently.

I did take the cover off and vacuumed it out. There was a little dust in the heatsink by the fan. Its cooled the temps a little bit. For some reason though I dont think Ntune displays the correct temp. Before My fan was kicking on hardcore when gaming, not its not so fast but the temp still reads pretty much the same on Ntune. Asus Tech Support said to use Nprobe, so I will give that a try.

Maybe GPU-Z will be more reliable, or perhaps Everest.

try undervolting it. It did wonders for mine and it sits about at about 55 in idle and in game (COD4, RBSV) its about 70 max.
