    Hey everybody

I've recently installed window 7 and I used cpu-z to check the cpu, but it is always stuck at 1.2Ghz speed, not at max speed 2.2Ghz. The powerplan is set at high performance. What can be the problem? Thanks.

Interesting. I have windows 7 and haven't had this issue.

    Did you install ATK0100?

    weird.

I guess check the Processor Power Management tree in the advanced power options. See if the maximum processor state is 100%. You can also try updating or reflashing the BIOS, and/or clearing the NVRAM by going into the BIOS setup utility, and choosing reset to default settings.

    yeah what he said.
I thought it would be Power4Gear (right click battery icon on taskbar), not processor power management

    Are you serious?
I thought I was the only one with this problem. The EXACT thing happened with my laptop! Also using G1S and T7500. I reinstalled WinXP and it's STILL stuck at 1.2! Did Win7 just destroy our CPU?

Power4Gear is from Asus, the power management tree is integrated into Windows, though both can control the same values.

No, it is still not working. I tried EVERYTHING, reinstall, restore system, software OC, just short of updating BIOS I have done everything I could. Nothing works.

    I've got the sane issue!
    I have Asus G1Sn with Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2,5GHz 6MB.
My processor can run with 12.5x multiplier, but on AC power, with High Performance Power Management I have only 6 -> 6.0x ?! In my processor this is 1.2 GHz :(

On battery mode I can reach the 12.5x !

On AC on Entertainment and Quite Office I Can get 8.0x! That is 1.6GHz

    Do you have any solution?

    I'm using Windows 7 Professional English x64 (64 bit)

I was trying to reinstall all ATK drivers, Power 4 Gear...

On 32bit Vista Ultimate everything is ok.

My G1sn has the same problem. I traced it to the Intel Core 2 Duo Thermal Monitor 2 (TM2) that kept the TM2 in the TM2 thermal target settings and it could not get out of this state. So you ended up with something that al always around half of your CPU max speed. You can use RMClock and disable the TM2 settings in the Advance CPU Settings page and your CPU will magically get back to full speed.

Yes, but long time I had Vista x64 without any problems. For 2 or 3 mouths I had Win7 x64 without problems.

Now my score in Windows System Rating is 3.8 (should be 6.1).

I Can Turn off Thermal Monitor for both cores, but I think that someone inveted this for some reason and maybe it is a little bit risky to turn it off.
My processor goes from 45*C to 62*C on cooler mate!

Maybe I shoudl send my G1Sn for RMA?

I think that on my second Windows 7 OS on this computer I solved it but I don't know exactly how.

    This solution works!!!

    1) go to http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml
    2) download RMClock Utility 2.35
    3) install. Run it, go to the Advanced CPU settings tab
    4) Uncheck Enable Thermal Monitor 2
    5) Check Apply these settings at startup
    6) Apply.

Now mine T7500 has the full range of multipliers again :)

    Thanks!

I just thought I'd pipe in on this as well. I've a G1Sn with a T8300 and I've had the exact same problem - the clincher came when I tried playing a 1080p video on youtube that was like watching a slideshow. The multiplier was stuck at 6x, so 1.2GHz was my maximum except, like moskit, if it was running on battery power.

Aaac, your suggestion worked perfectly - thank you very much! What I really want to know is why the hell this started happening, if came outta nowhere! At least as far as I can tell.... And how many people are affected and if it's only G1's.

    Cheers guys

I undid the changes and made it locked again. When the multiplier is locked, the temperatures are always <50 Celsius, but when it's unlocked, it idles at ~60. That's pretty bad.. I don't know why, though.

Well, I did some reading on it and found out about thermal monitor 1 and 2. They regulate the temperature of the core by downclocking when it gets too hot - the thing that seems to be going awry in our cases is that temperature seems to be set at about 50 degrees - I think it should be a lot higher than that, though I'm having a hard time actually finding that information.

60 isn't great for idle temps but I guess the really important thing is what is it at under load? I also found this, which apparently only applies to an XPS model but it seems to be pretty much the same for us: http://forum.rightmark.org/topic.cgi?id=6:1533#5

I'm wondering if this could be an RMclock problem. I've never tried uninstalling it cuz it offers a disadvantage to temps (losing my undervolt).
