Does anyone here with the G1s run spyweeper on their notebook? I bought spysweeper from best buy last week. When I tried to install it on my G1s...I got 90% of the way through the install....and bang, blue screen. I tried two more times and the same thing happend. The box reads that it does work with Vista.

Now all of a sudden, I can't get past the security log in screen. The mouse or keyboard does not work. I also can't get to the desktop in safe mode either.

Anyone have these problems before? I called ASUS and they said I have to do a system recovery. I have no problem doing this. My worry is that spyweeper caused it....and when I try to install it again the same thing will happen.

Any ideas? Anyone have problems with spysweeper?

What is spysweeper? Some antispyware? How about using a different one?

I also suggest recovery, and don't install that software. Can you get it refunded?

Also make sure you remove the ASUS bloatware on the next recovery (check my Vista guide in my sig).

Do you have a link for getting rid of bloatware?

Does anyone have spyweeper with the G1s?

Call them and they'll email you a download link for an install that has no problems...happened to me on a 'reinstall'. Something in Vista has changed through updates that caused a glich I "think".

    Ergggggggg..AVG free sucks!

I need a free antivirus until I can get my laptop running right again. But AVG Free will not install right. Keeps saying CRC Failed and bad files...blah...****

You should probably re-download it? If you get CRC errors probably the file was downloaded with errors...

Also, if you re-read my earlier post you see that I already gave you a link to cleaning up the bloatware: the Vista optimization guide in my signature.

I have re-loaded it....5 times. It will not work.

Thanks for your bloatware free thread. I am using it. I am at the virus protection point of it..........But AVG will not let me continue! :(

Sorry about that... maybe there's a version for Vista and you're using one for XP or the other way around? I don't know...

There are other free antivirus-es out there, you can use one of those while you sort things out.

Does McAfee still do a free virus checker? I've been using system hog Norton AV for a long time now, but I remember people always talking about AVG and McAfee as being great system-lite virus checkers in their full versions.

McAfee is not lite. AVG is a good free AV. I personally use Avast AV, their home version is free.
