Alright, I recently picked up the Zalman notebook cooler for my g1s and decided to test it out. It seemed I only got a temp. drop of 2 degrees, whereas others got temp drops of 7-8 degrees. My question is, what exactly is the best method to get the most cooling from the zalman cooler for the g1s?

This is what I did. You need to follow my directions exactly!
1. Set the Zalman cooler on top of a desk.
2. Place the Laptop square on top of the Zalman Cooler.
3. Use a saw and cut out the part of the desk that the Zalman cooler sits on.
4. Put the Laptop, Zalman cooler, and desk piece on top of another Zalman cooler that is resting on someone else's desk. (Note: It has to be someone else's desk. Library tables are fine.)
5. Repeat the above steps until your Laptop is elevated too much for you to use comfortably.
6. Cut a fresh lemon in half.
7. Put each half on top of each eye and hold for 5 minutes. (Remember to scream in pain!)
Sorry about the above. Just had a Statics class where my professor said that she follows directions exactly.
On a more serious note. I also have the Zalman cooler and G1S. Temperature drops are different from G1S to G1S. Some systems components are seated well. Some are just room heaters. It's all different. Just put your G1S on top of that Zalman and enjoy 2 degrees lower temperatures. There is no special method. If you have some desktop case fans, you could try to put two fans on either side of your Zalman so that air moves in from the left and out the right. You're going to need to use some sort of power adapter. -
The problem I see with my zalmon cooler and G1s is that the zalmon cooler vents air to the lower back portion of the laptop. However, our G1s have all their air intakes and fans on the top area of the back. Most of the air getting pushed out from the cooler escapes out the bottom and sides. My temporary solution is to sit the laptop lower on the cooler so that more air has a chance to make it to the top portion. I am trying to think of a way to block off the lower sides and bottom edge of the cooler to force all the air up.. but not sure what a good method without risking major airflow disruption causing overheating...

I also got the zalman cooler for my G1S now and i do notice a temperature drop
Normally when surfing, listening to music, chatting,... my laptop fan turned on regularly, now with the zalman my laptop fan never turns on(normally i had a GPU temperature of 65°C while surfing, listening to music, chatting,... now i get 56°C ^^ and the notebook cooler is on a low setting)

(The typing is more comfortable also by doing that ^^)

Hmm alright, ill try putting my G1s a bit lower, just one more question, would removing any of the tapes at the bottom of the G1s help at all or am I making it worse?

Hmm, moved my laptop down the cooler, sadly didnt make a difference, still getting 94 degrees, just wondering how people are getting 85-90 while gaming.

i was so surprised today while walking through my college student store i actually found they carry the zalman notebook coolers
i couldn't believe my eyes, because i had recently failed trying to get one back home over break.
so i've been playing around w/ the cooler quite a bit today, found the temps do drop a little bit while idle. for me, the cooler basically increases the time for the gpu to reach max temp (94-96c) and sharply decreases the time it takes to return to idle temps. good enough reason to buy imho. a problem i've ran into before i had the cooler was my laptop completely shutting off while gaming for long periods of time. i'm guessing the cpu reached a certain threshold and automatically turned off as a safety setting (i'm hoping). so far, the laptop hasn't shut off on me, all has been well for me w/ this notebook cooler so far.

Anyone else with the cooler with some tips?

Put the cooler on a cold surface. This will allow cold air to flow up and through the laptop. Just a thought.
