So I've managed to get my g1s to run at 1.037v on the highest multiplier. Idle temps are around 60°c, full load stay stable at 77. This seems reasonable to me but I'd like someone to confirm this.

My GPU however runs above 100°C most of the time when playing games, this kinda worries me... I got my laptop about 10 days ago and it's still really clean.

its the crappy foam thermal pads on the heat sinks. undervolting draws less power but the gpu chip will still consume the same power even more when undervolting

I'm curious because I don't know much about electrical engineering, it doesn't make sense to me and I haven't heard this before around here, so I'll ask..... How does running a chip at lower voltage draw more power compared to running it at higher/stock voltage?

Under volting is for the CPU. As far as I'm aware there is no way to undervolt the GPU outside of the bios. Unless anyone wants to enlighten me that is.

No I didn't undervolt the GPU, just the cpu so it'd cool down a bit. But my gpu is scaring me a bit as I get a low 3dmark06 score (2500) and it's running so hot. I don't know if there really is a problem with it as fear runs fine on 1440x900 with 2xAA and most things either on max or medium.

I can't crysis to run properly though most people say they can run it at medium high with their g1s, everything on medium gets me about 15 fps in 1280x800.

I've got a german version though, the screen resolution is 1440x900 and it has different keyboard. Maybe there are other hardware differences?

I take it you haven't installed any new drivers. I would head over to the forums on http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ and have a look at getting a new driver. Read the information on how to install if you've never used modified drivers before. Might also be worth checking your bios is the latest version available.
GPU temps. Mine runs at 56C idle and 95C Max when gaming. This is with 174.12 drivers.

I installed the 169.09, the newest ones i found for vista 32. I didnt really notice any improvement. I'll have a look at a bios update then.

These are definately not the newest for Vista 32. The ones I find work best are 174.12, but thats just my laptop. It might be different for you. When I changed from 169.xx series I noticed a large drop in temperature (about 10C) of my GPU-with no performance drop either. As the 169.xx series are desktop drivers it may explain why they get so hot on laptops.

Where did you find those? The latest I see on laptopvideo2go are the 169.09 I have.

go to the forum. http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/ this will give you loads in the 17x section. Be sure to try 174.12 as well as I've heard a lot of good over these drivers and people having stuttering issues with newer ones. Try the new ones by all means, but for me the only ones that workd really well are the 174.12's.

is your laptop on a flat surface when your gaming? Mine only reached low 80's after playing Bioshock for 2 hours...

    i'd say update your drivers.

I've updated the drivers, there's a bit of a performance boost. But the temperatures havent gone down.

And yes my laptop is on my desk most of the time. Could it be related to it being a german version, with a lower screen res (1440x900)? The fans must be working fine as it can get quite noisy.

dude its your cpu chip. i got the t9300 in my g1s and all my temps dropped 15c just from having it in there. i get better performance from everything without overclocking anything. as5 helps alot too. i idle at 34c!! no joke.
