I've had my G1s for about 2 weeks now, no real problems, however, today I started it up and I couldnt turn off the touchpad by pressing the hotkey button. not a huge problem, but kind of annoying because it was working fine yesterday. after a couple restarts and shutdowns it still isnt working. also, the little message display system says ASUS until i start direct console then it displays the standard time and analog clock. anyone know what is up?

Try setting direct console to start on startup. You can do this in msconfig. The touchpad thing happened to me last weekend, try re-installing ATK Hotkey.

I reinstalled ATK hotkey with no luck. also, i ran msconfig but cant figure out how to add DC to the startup list.

another thing thats wrong, is the touch pad scroll down part on the right side does not work. so maybe this is a problem with the actual touch pad and not the hot key??

No, I had the same exact problem. No evil eye light, scroll bar didn't work, and touchpad on off(and other hotkeys) didn't work. I know I ended up re-installing all the drivers on Asus's website, including the synaptics driver. I don't know which one worked(try ATKOSD, I have no idea what it is but it is running as a task).

As for the Direct Console, it should already be in the list and you should be able to check it, otherwise re-install that too.

I know I'm just telling you to re-install pretty much everything, but honestly, that's what worked for me.

Re-install the ATK drivers (as nightfox mentioned, there are 2 of them) and then direct console. This should work - you don't need to re-install all drivers.
