I searched the forums first and couldn't find anything specific on this topic about an a/c adapter.
When I first got the G1s, the power brick would get hot, but not too hot to hold.
Today when I unplugged it, the brick was so hot I couldn't hold it for more than a few seconds. It was plugged in for about an hour which I wouldn't think is too long. So what is considered normal ? Should I call Asus? Advice appreciated.

Hmmm ya know I was wondering the same thing. During normal use it isn't too bad, but it canget really really hot during gaming.

Same here...during normal use it was hot (not to the point of burning though). However when gaming...that sucker sizzled boy! Sounds like it's normal.

If you are worried about your power adapter's heat, then try putting it on it's side. The side with a black gloss strip on it. When you think about it, each large side (the sides with the sticker or the led light) those count as 2 surface area, and the sides with the gloss strip is one. Then if you put the adapter on it's side, count the surface area that isn't touching the ground. Before it would only be 4, one large side + two gloss strip sides. After putting it on the sides, it would be 2 large sides + one gloss strip, equaling 5. More surface area helps it to cool down. Hope you can understand what I wrote.

The Z96Js I had was like that. On idle. I didn't like that. I sent that whole thing back since there were so many other problems with it.
My V1J power brick doesn't feel hot, but I don't do any sort of gaming on it.
I would expect it to heat up after a while if you're gaming, since the GPU draws a fair bit of power. Laptops that have discrete GPUs usually get a 90W power pack whereas the integrated graphics units get a 65W power pack. The more power it uses, the hotter it will get since there will always be a certain % of waste heat (and being a % means using more means getting more).
