    Recover to c drive or entire drive are the only options on this disc. This means that it will delete everything in my c or whole drive right. I can't repair or restore using this disc? Will a vista disc do this? Will microsoft given me this disc if updates for SP1 caused my problems?

    Recovery won't repair, but there is I think a downloadable Vista disk that can be used for repairs.

    The recovery will do just that, recover, overwrite the entire C: or the entire drive depending on the option.

    I have a feeling Microsoft won't give you a Vista disk for free regardless of the problem. :D
