as far as I can tell when the V1s is released it will be the same as the g1s with a different shell. Are there any other disadvantages to it? as I do not know if i would like the flashing lights of the G1s.

Right, as I said in your first post, they are completely different besides similar components such as cpu, hdd and what not. G1 aimed towards gamers. V1 aimed toward the business appeal (If I can recall). Since, I don't own a G1 I don't know if you can turn off the lights. Do you have more specific questions? I don't mean to be rude, but the search function is pretty useful.

The V1s will most-likely have superior build quality to the G1s, due to it being a business class notebook.

You can turn off the flashing lights on the G1S using ASUS direct console

    V1s is/has:
    Different build material: Mg/Carbon Fiber
    Thinner, lighter
    More durable
    better keyboard - spillproof
better security - tpm, fingerprint reader
    more professional design/style

    The G1S has:
    eSata port
possibly slightly better GPU/vram - an unknown at this point
    possibly better cooling

The V1S should have a docking station available while the G1S does not.

Just a note, the spill proof keyboard is a spill resistant one :)
And as for the V1S vs G1S, you should note that the V1S has a better build quality and is business class notebook and that the Chassis and the motherboard is different. So while the specs might look the same to you, but the internal components and the design of the motherboard is different. And the famous and Pricey VX2 is actually a V1Jp with an upgraded chassis.

Just my opinion: If the specs were (nearly) the same & I could afford it, I would go for the V1S over the G1S anyday. Or for any business laptop over its budget/gaming version. I believe the quality increase is worth it.

And you should remember that G1S weigh's around 3.1KG while the V1Jp was around 2.75KG.

The V1's specs have yet to be announced, for all we know it can have eSata and HDMI, as well as the Docking Station.
