hey, guys. I rmad my G1s back in october 08 i think. Gpu was hiting 102 celcius and cpu was goin 92 degrees.

Anyway after some time g1s gpu went out i think. RMA'd they gave me a g1Sn w/9500 gs but the problem is the display. My original display was 1680x1050 (it was a1) but now they gave me a display with 1280x800. I am just realizing this now, because I was away and my brother doesnt know anything about computers.

How can I get this fixed?

Also, I just put in 4gb of ram pc2 5300 (333 mhz). Is it possible to use a faster ram ? I know the fsb is 800. can I use pc2 6400 or something?

    Another issue.

This laptop is starting to overheat as well. gpu is hitting 90s. cpu is idling at 65.

Any suggestions on what should i do.

Temps are far too high for idle. Clean the vents then open up and reapply new thermal paste to both CPU and GPU if you are able. Check the G1S owner threads but I think you can upgrade to 4GB but only at 333mhz like with my C90S.

Is 65 really too high? i woulda thought its normal due to the way the g1s coolings arranged so itll be higher than most other laptops.
And btw mines gone up to 90 but wont pass it and its only when i oc my gpu. But i dont get any of g1s's stuttering problem when it reaches 96 deg so id like to think the temps are in reasonable bounds.
Anyone else with g1sn can you tell us your temps?

My G1Sn is quite hot too. GPU, at least. Hits ~93 gaming(with a cooler), but cpu is ok. Makes me think the heatsink just isn't properly on the gpu.

PC2-6400 will work in your G1Sn. i had installed a set of Buffalo Select 2x2Gb and worked perfectly. Jaguar in an other thread also installed PC2-6400 in his laptop.

Although, memory will only run at 667mhz, it leaves you a bit of room if you intend to overclock the FSB.
